CDMS Inside Integration
FieldAlytics integration with CDMS Inside brings useful chemical application checks, crop lists, and seed lookup functionality within the Main, Work Order, Fertility, and Records tabs. Additionally CDMS tools can be accessed from our Tools menu and from the FieldAlytics Mobile App. Having CDMS Check active in user permissions is required for chemical commodity/rate checks, however many benefits of this integration exist even outside of this check. Read corresponding help sections below for more details, and help using any of these features.
CDMS Functions in the Main Tab
- As-Planted data - When calibrating As-Planted data, varieties can be modified using CDMS Seed Lookup tool, see As-Planted Data Calibration for more information.
- Yield data - The crop list available when calibrating yield data is derived from the CDMS crop list. See Calibrating Yield Data for more information.
- Farm Planning - Planting events within farm plans have the variety list populated from the CDMS Seed Lookup tool.
- Crop Area - The commodity list for this tool is derived from the CDMS crop list and the optional variety input is derived from the Seed Lookup tool. See Assigning Crops and Colors for more information.
CDMS Functions in the Work Order Tab
With appropriate permissions active, chemicals can be checked for label compliance in both Chemical and Fertilizer work orders. Delivery tickets use the variety list derived from CDMS for seed product additions.
Work Order List
The list of work orders in the Work Order tab displays the CDMS Check status of all displayed work orders:
Passed display a green checkmark, failed display a red icon, if a CDMS Check was not performed, this area is blank.
Chemical and Fertilizer Work Orders Creation
Adding a chemical, application rate and target rate with a commodity selected and an account with CDMS Check active will perform a CDMS check automatically once everything is selected. A green checkmark indicates a passed check, whereas a red X indicated a failure. The hover-over information icon displays labelled rates, and REI and PHI are populated. If a CDMS check fails, hover-over information can be used to determine why, giving the user an opportunity to fix the issue. See Creating Chemical Application Work Orders for more information.
Delivery tickets
When adding seed products to a Delivery Ticket, the CDMS Seed Lookup is used, see Creating Delivery Ticket Work Orders for more information.
CDMS Functions in the Fertility Tab
- Analysis: Seeding - When setting up a seeding recommendation, the Product drop-down list is populated from CDMS. This list displays as "CDMS ID: Variety Name" and is sorted alphabetically by variety name.
CDMS Functions in the Records Tab
CDMS Inside integrated services are available in FieldAlytics Records tab, for Chemical Records, and as the variety source for Planting Records.
Chemical Records
In the records tab, view any existing chemical record, or create a new chemical work order. Two uses of CDMS are present in this record type, and both can be viewed from within the "Details" sub-tab of the chemical record entry form. The first is the use of the CDMS crop list. To use this, type an input into the "Crop" input field (see the image on right), a menu window of matching valid CDMS crops will appear as the input is typed. Click the CDMS crop desired when it appears.
The second use of CDMS in Chemical Records is a basic rate check. With a crop selected as well as a carrier and rate input, add a new chemical product using the green " +" icon. A CDMS check failure is indicated by a caution symbol, a pass is indicated by a check mark. If a check is not performed, this area will be blank. In the above example, one product fails due to an incorrect unit selection resulting in rates outside of labeled rates. The check performed within this window is not as comprehensive as that performed in the Work Order tab, if more information is needed in regards to labeled crop or allowed rates, either the work order tab or the stand alone chemical lookup tool may be used.
Planting Records
Like chemical records, planting records take their crop list from CDMS. Planting records take this one step further however, and allow for the selection of specific varieties. To utilize this feature, view any existing planting record, or create a new planting record. In the "Details" sub-tab of the planting record entry form, there is a Crop and Variety entry. First select a Crop, then start to type a variety. The variety list will populate any matching varieties for the selected crop, select the desired one from the drop-down list. Once selected the information icon " i" can be used to view more detailed information regarding the variety.
