Management Zone Options

The following options are accessible for existing management zone layers. For help creating management zone layers, see help topic "Management Zones" then see help sections below.

Basic Functions Explained

  • Convert to Sample Event: Clicking this option and following through with the Create Sample Layer window that proceeds, causes the system to create an empty zone sampled, field sample layer.
  • Add To My Layers: Clicking this option adds the map imagery of the management zone layer to the My Layers utility. See help topic " Add To My Layers Function" for more help.
  • Create Buffer Zone: Clicking this option allows for the creation of a buffer zone. A buffer zone is a zone area that completely surrounds the rest of the management zones- However partial buffer zone areas may be applied as well. See help below for more on buffer zones.
  • Create No Data Zone: This option is meant to fill in empty (non-zone field areas) with a management zone on an existing management zone layer. Select the option, then define the minimum acre area for field areas to have a zone and then click "Save".
  • Create Check Strip (Manual): Clicking this option allows for a zone to be "drawn", that "burns through" any zones or zone areas that happen to be beneath that zone. See help section below.
  • Create Check Strip (Prompt): Clicking this option also creates a zone that burns through under-laying zones, but this option allows certain dimension to be input. See help section below.
  • Create Variable Rate Irrigation Pivot: Clicking this option allows for a variable rate irrigation pivot to be created and added to the management zone layer. See help section below.
  • Create Pivot Cutout Tool: Clicking this option places an editable pivot in the management zone boundary. See help section below.
  • Edit Zone Polygons: Clicking this option opens a window that allows for the existing zone polygons to be edited. See help section below.
  • Data Silo: Clicking this option sends the Management Zone layer to Data Silo R7 Tool for adjustments
  • Download Shape: Clicking this option will open a Download window with a Shapefile to be downloaded for quick access
  • Download Shape as KML: Clicking this option will open a Download window with a KML file for quick access
  • Print/Export: Clicking this option opens the "Rx Export" window for the export of Zone Summaries(PDF Print out) and/or Controller files of supported monitors.
  • Create Manual Rx: Clicking this option will create a "Manual Rx" in the Saved Rx folder for use in the Profit Planning feature
  • Create Yield Potential: Clicking this option will convert the Management Zone into a Yield Potential layer in which commodities and yield potential are added manually by the user.
  • Zone Acreage: Clicking this will display the Zone Id and Acres associated to each zone.

Creating/Editing Data Columns

Creating Check Strip Zones

There are two Check Strip options on Management Zone Layers: Create Check Strip (Manual): This option allows for a check strip zone to be drawn onto the field manually.

Create Check Strip (Prompt): This option allows for the dimensions of the check strip to be input, then allows for the zone to be moved, pivoted into place and copied.

Create Check Strip (Manual)
  1. On the management zone layer , click "Create Check Strip Manual".
  2. The system activates the boundary editor mode.
  3. Click on the "Draw a Polygon or Draw a Circle"[1] icon, start placing white vertex[2]  then
  4. After placing the first vertex a distance and area[3] will display based on the location of the cursor.
  5. Rapidly double click anywhere within the map screen to close the polygon or click "Finish"
  6. Click floppy disk "Save"[4] icon in the upper left corner.
Create Check Strip (Prompt)
  1. On the management zone layer , click "Create Check Strip (Prompt)".
  2. The "Check Strip Criteria", window opens, input desired width and height for check strip, then click "Create".
  3. The check strip displays as a white semi-transparent projection onto the field. Use arrow keys to move the check strip, or standard click near the center of the check strip and drag it into place. Check strips may also be pivoted; standard click near any of the corners of the check strip and then drag to pivot.
  4. Once Check strip is in desired position, Click floppy disk "Save" icon in the upper left corner
Duplicating Check Strips

The Create Check Strip Prompt option also allows for check strips to be duplicated.
