Custom Color Tool
The Custom Color Tool has two sides: "Palettes" for creating and editing palettes, and "Assign Palettes" for assigning them to data sets.
Accessing Custom Color Tool and Palette Creation
- Click the menu icon in the upper right hand corner
- From the menu, select option "Tools".
- Use drop-down menu to select "Custom Color Tool"
By default, the tool will load the color palettes that have been created, whether or not they have been assigned
- To create a new palette, click the green "+" button in the upper right
- The "Create Color Palette" window will open
- Define the name for the new palette being created [1]
- Set the Number of Colors (stops) for the palette [2]
- Set a start and stop color (first and last stop) [3]
Use the lock to the left of the color swatch to set color stops that are not the start or stop of the color ramp [4]
- Once palette creation is complete, click "Submit" in the bottom right
Save color palettes can be viewed within the tool once they are
created
- Use the pencil icon to edit an existing palette
- The paperclip icon can be used to assign a palette to a new dataset for a profile
Use the folder to view existing assignments of a color palette
Assigning Color Palettes
Once a palette has been created, it can be assigned to any available dataset that supports custom color palettes: As-Applied Commodity, As-Planted Commodity, Fertilizer Products, Imagery, Soil Data Elemental, Yield Data Commodity, Yield Normalization, Yield Profit, Veris EC Data, Management Zones, and Field Sample.
- Click the paperclip icon on the palette row to assign the palette to a dataset for a profile
- Once the Palette Assignment modal loads, first select a location profile [1]
- Select the Assignment Type (layer) to assign the palette to [2]
- Depending on the Assignment Type selection, select the Assignment (sub element of type) [3]
- The Soil Data Element type for instance allows the selection of sub elements (the specific soil attribute analyzed). The Field Sample type however does not have a sub element selection as this type assigns the palette to only the sample ID
- Select the Unit System for the current palette configuration [4]
- Palettes can be assigned to both Unit Systems for a profile, user visualizations of the data will depend upon user Account preferences
- Select the unit for the layer the palette is being applied to (when relevant) [5]
Set the Palette Range Type [6]
Absolute and Relative Color Scales Explained
- Relative: The color scale will be applied to assigned datasets based on the ranges of the individual layer, meaning the values in the data set will be calculated across the color stops based upon the min/max of the dataset and distributed appropriately. Refer to the assignment above for palette settings.
- Absolute: Datasets using the assigned palette will present the data visually based upon the pre-determined ranges for each color stop, values that extend beyond the min/max of the defined ranges will be accounted for in the lowest/highest stop accordingly.
