Field Level Add Data Import - Field Samples

1. Right click over the Field Name in the Main tab Profile Tree.
2. Click "Add Data" option.
3. "Data Upload "window opens. Select Data type: Field Samples.
4. Select inputs for Lab:, Sample Date, and File type (Certain labs present extra input fields. Fill out all inputs).
5. Click "Choose File"  and search through computer directory for Soil sampling CSV or shape file, and select it. Click "Open".
6. The system opens "Import Sample Data" window 
7. Use the "Sample ID Column:"[1] drop down menu to select the column that contains Soil Sampling ID numbers. Please Note: Options found within this drop-down menu populate directly from the CSV or Shape File. Additionally, if the file was obtained as an export from the FieldAlytics system, the "FieldAlytics Template Check"[2]  button may now be clicked, and all other help steps below may be skipped, except for clicking the "Import"[12] button on Import Sample Data window.
8. Use "Add Element"[3] drop-down menu to select the Soil sampling Nutrients to be imported, click "Add"[4]. Please note: Options in this drop-down menu are system generated.
9. Continue using "Add Element" menu until all Field Sample elements have been entered. 
10. The "DBF Column"[6] drop down menu will populate directly from the CSV or Shape File, if the DBF column header match the selected element. If the system was not able to match the element to a DBF column from within the file, the drop-down menu will be blank. 
11. Ensure all elements have been mapped to the DBF column [6] they represent. Review all Unit [7] columns and add Extraction Method [8] (optional).
12. Review "Email results"[10], "Exclude points outside of boundary"[10] and "Import field sample without element data"[10] options for desired settings. Click the "Import"[12]  button when finished. Please Note: Before hitting the import button at this point the "Save as Template"[9]  button may be clicked to save reoccurring Field Sample import nutrient scenarios as templates. Simply click the button and name the template, then save. The template associates with the file type(Shape or CSV) being imported. 
13. Elements can be removed from the imported element list by hitting the "red X"[11] to the right of the desired element.
    

Field Sample Upload FAQ

• Yes. Select the element from the "Add Element" drop down menu, then click "Allow multiple depths for Element" check box, then click "Add". The system will allow you to then add the same element again, and define separate depths and DBF columns for each. See image below.

• To determine the nutrients stored within a shape file, Unzip/Extract the file, then open the .dbf portion of the shape file within a spreadsheet viewer like LibreOffice Calc, or older versions of Microsoft Excel. All of the "DBF Column" drop-down menus within the "Import Sample Data" window are populated directly by the column header texts within the .dbf portion of the shape file.

If the wrong nutrient is chosen can that information be edited within FieldAlytics?

• A new nutrient may be added through the Edit Sample Values utility, and existing nutrient point values may be edited, however existing nutrients may not be deleted directly through FieldAlytics. If a different nutrient lineup must be achieved, re-upload the data and select the needed nutrients. Can CSV Field Sample files be uploaded ?

• Yes, field level CSV files can be uploaded- however they are uploaded through the CSV File Upload/Merge option that is displayed on empty Field Sample Layers. (Reference related article below: Field Sample CSV File Uploading/Merging)
