Creating Soil Sampling Work Orders
Soil Sampling Work Orders can be used to setup sampling jobs referencing previously created directed sampling layers and sent to a specific lab for analysis during a defined application window. They may or may not be connected to an outside billing software, and can provide status notifications as the job is updated.

Selecting Work Order Type and Profile 1.In the Work Order tab, click Add Work Order to the right of the screen. 2. Select "Soil Sampling" for Type. [1] 3. Select desired VAR, Bu, Location and Grower [2] 4. (Optional) Click Sync with ERP [3] to enter P.O. and Invoice number Please Note: P.O. and Invoice Number details are for record keeping purposes, and are not required. 5. Click Save to Continue. |
Add Job Wizard - Profiles6. Add relevant fields by expanding profile [4] and selecting desired fields from the drop down menu [5] once the boundary is selected, click the green plus icon. The field will appear as the image below.
7. The Directed File will default to the most recently created point or zone directed layer, you can uncheck the "Use Most Recent" box in order to choose a different layer. Please Note: If a Directed Sampling Point and Zone layer are created for the field, the Lab Tab>Sampling Method will dictate the sourced Directed Layer. 8. (Optional) If desired, input a name for the Job. 9. Click Lab [6] to Continue to the Next step. |
Add Job Wizard - Lab 9. Select desired Lab. 10. (Optional) If desired, select desired package and input desired Account Number. 11. Make desired selections, then click Options to continue.
- Soil Service Provider: This option allows for the selection of an integrated Soil Service Provider that will handle completion of the soil sampling work order. For more help with this option, see help topics: SoilView Integration or ROGO Soil Service in Related Articles at the bottom of the page.
- Sampling Method: Select a soil sampling method for the soil sampling event. This input will transfer over to the iOS mobile app (upon Completion)
- Field Status: This record keeping option allows for a field status to be selected and passes that status along to resulting work order emails and PDFs.
- Previous Crop: This record keeping option causes the selection to display on resulting work order emails and PDFs.
- Collect GPS Field Boundary: If "Yes" for this option is selected, then the iOS app will alert the sampling user that a GPS Field Boundary for the field(s) is requested.
- Sample Repull: This record keeping option displays the selection on resulting work order emails and PDFs.
- Lab Recommendations: Crops 1,2,3 along with their yield goal can be input here. If users have a default for these within User Preferences they will autofill here.

Add Job Wizard - OptionsAll inputs within this tab are optional. 13. Make desired selections.
- Window Start and Window End Dates: These refer to the window of time that the work order is expected to be completed in. Click the input fields in turn and then click on the dates needed within the Calendar that appears.
- Window Start and End Date Alerts: Selecting these check boxes causes an email alert to be sent when either the start or the end date has passed.
- Send Notification Emails: Selecting this option causes notification emails to send when there is a status change for a work order.
- Send SMS/Text Alert: This option causes Work Order email updates to send by SMS text message. Select option check box, then input mobile phone number, and provider information. Click to add more text alerts, or click to delete.
- Please Note: Carrier charges may apply.
- Attach File: This option allows for a directed sampling file to be attached to the work order. Click Upload File link text, then click the "Browse" button. Select the file from computer, then click "Open". Click "Upload". Any file attached here will be passed along with any emailed job (if Send Email Attachments box is checked), as well as any "Download Job" action.
- Note: Notes appear within "Job Details" and Work Order PDF reports under a "Notes:" section
14. Once all requirements in the Lab and Options Tabs are met, Click Save [8] to finish the Work Order. |
