Uploading John Deere GreenStar 3 Data with Web Uploader
The Logged Data Upload Utility (Web Uploader) accessible via the "cloud" icon at the top right of the interface can be used to upload machine data, but is sensitive to folder structure. Multiple sub-folders inside of the zipped folder can interfere with the upload. The folder structure present from files downloaded directly off of John Deere machines can contain multiple subfolders preventing a successful upload using this tool. The below outlines the method of arranging the files for upload.
- Navigate to the location of your GS3_2630 folder
-
- If it is not already extracted, extract the file
- Open the folder to view the first sub folder, this is usually named something like “harvest” or “growername2021”
- Make a new folder here next to this one (or anywhere else on your device you can easily access), the folder name does not matter, you just need to be able to find it
- Inside the GS3_2630 folder, use the file search in the upper right, type in “.fdd”
- Click on the first file result (this should highlight the file), on your keyboard, depress the ‘Ctrl’ key and then use the ‘A’ key to select/highlight all of the files
- With all of the files highlighted, depress the ‘Ctrl’ key again and then hit the ‘C’ key to copy all of the files
- Ctrl + X can be used to cut if you prefer
- Click ‘Close Search’ at the top of the file explorer
- Navigate to the folder created in step 2a and open it (the folder should currently be empty)
- Right click once inside the empty folder and select ‘Paste’
- This will paste all of the copied .fdd files into the folder
- Navigate back to and open the GS3_2630 folder
- You may already be within it if the folder created in step 2a was created inside of it
- In the file search in the upper right, type in “.fdl”
- Click on the first file result (this should highlight the file), on your keyboard, depress the ‘Ctrl’ key and then use the ‘A’ key to select/highlight all of the files
- With all of the files highlighted, depress the ‘Ctrl’ key again and then hit the ‘C’ key to copy all of the files
- Click ‘Close Search’ at the top of the file explorer
- Navigate to the folder created in step 2a and open it (the folder should now contain only the previously pasted .fdd files)
- Right click once inside the empty folder and select ‘Paste’
- At this point, all of the .fdd and .fdl files should be present in this single folder
- Viewing the .fdd and .fdl files within your folder created in step 2a, click on any single file to highlight it, depress the ‘Ctrl’ key and then use ‘A’ to select all of the files
- With all of the files highlighted, right click and hover over ‘Send to’ and select “Compressed (zipped) folder”
- The zip archive will be created and named one of the file names within the archive
- You can rename this zip archive before upload if you would like
- At this point you are ready to upload the new zip archive via the web uploader
