FieldAlytics Mobile - Settings Tab Overview

Many of the automatic app behaviors within the FA Mobile app may be adjusted. See the following help sections below for accessing the settings menu and explanation of options.

Accessing Settings 

The settings menu can be reached by tapping "Settings" in the lower right-hand corner of the starting screen (see above).

Once tapped, the Settings tab displays.    

  • Settings - Allows for access and modification of settings screens, see below help sections.
  • Work Offline - takes the app offline with limited functionality.
  • Log Out - Allows currently logged in user to log out.
  • User - Displays the user currently logged in.
  • Version - Displays current version number
  • Help - Takes the user to online help documentation.

Settings - General

  • Default Map Type - Controls map background with options of Roads, Satellite or Hybrid map view.
  • Default Field Label - Controls how the fields are labeled, with options of Field Name, Stop Number, Job Name, or Dispatch Number.
  • Auto-Close Distance (feet) - The auto-close distance refers to how close the user must be to the beginning point before the app automatically completes and closes the polygon.
  • Track Device Location as Asset - Allows for tracking of the device for display back to the web interface when toggled "on". See iPad & iPhone Asset Tracking for more.

Settings - Work Orders

  • Automatically Create Record - Records will be automatically created from completed jobs if toggled "on", otherwise a prompt will ask if a record is desired on job completion.
  • Hide Completed Fields - Removes boundaries of completed jobs from the Dispatch map if "on".
  • Show Oldest Dispatch - Dispatch list is loaded only when toggled "off" when toggled "on" the oldest dispatch will also load automatically.
  • Show Field Watch Layer - When toggled "on" FieldWatch layer displays when selecting a dispatch. See FieldWatch on Mobile for more.

Settings - Sampling

  • Starting Sample Number - This input field controls what number field sampling events use as the id for the first soil sample. The app will auto-increment from the entered number for each sample event.
  • Use Unique Sample Numbers - Toggling this option "on" causes the app to use unique soil sampling IDs across all soil sampling jobs until the option is toggled back to "off".
  • Next Unique Sample Number - This option goes with the "Use Unique Sample Numbers" option and becomes active and editable when "Use Unique Sample Numbers" is turned on. The "Next Unique Sample Number" will be the ID number the app increments from when Use Unique Sample Numbers is turned on.
  • Ignore Target Numbers - When toggled "on" this option causes the app to ignore the labeled ID of the target, instead re-numbering the samples in the order they are collected.
  • Default Navigation Method - The app guides the user to the next sample to be collected, the options are either "Lowest Number" or "Nearest".
  • Auto-Record Distance (feet) - Distance at which the "Record Sample" window automatically appears as the user approaches the target when collecting samples.
  • Max Distance to Target (feet) - This option prevents users from recording a soil sample for the target point when the user is outside of the entered value from the target.
  • Ignore Target Location - When toggled "on" this option allows soil sampling points to be recorded at your actual location as provided by the device GPS, if toggled "off" the sample position is recorded at the preset target location.
  • Grid Size (acres/sample) - Inputs in this option is in acres, and controls the default size for grid sampling . Entries in this field auto-update when entries in "Default Grid Width" or "Default Grid Height" are changed.
  • Grid Width (feet) - Inputs in this field auto-update when entries in "Grid Size (acres/sample)" is changed. Input desired grid width in feet.
  • Grid Length (feet) - Inputs in this field auto-update when entries in "Grid Size (acres/sample)" is changed. Input desired grid height in feet.
  • Create Grid Targets - This option, when toggled "on" creates targets in the center of the grid by default.
  • Use Zone Colors - When toggled "on" this option causes management zones to be colorized as they are within the FieldAlytics web system instead of default colors.

Please Note: Generally, changes made within the settings menu will not take hold in the app until after a logout/login.
