Creating Season Zones

The primary purpose of Season Zones: Cutting variable rate prescription maps down to a portion of a field boundary area. Follow the steps below:

  1. Create a Season Zone folder by right-clicking over any field name within the Main Profile Tree.
  2. From the menu that displays, select "Add season" 
  3. The system opens "Add Season" window. Name the season, and (if desired) select a date range. Click "Submit".
  4. Select the "Use Management Zone" box if you wish to create identical season zones to an already created management zone.
  5. The system processes and adds a Season Folder to the field. Navigate to the season folder and right-click over it.
  6. Click "Add Zone" .
  7. The "Add Zone" window opens. Minimally, input a name for the season zone within "Zone Name" field. Click "Save". Please Note: Leaving "Include Field Boundary" checked causes the default beginning zone area to the entire field, that must be edited down to desired area. See "Season Zone Crop and Variety" section below for help on corresponding function.

    8. Navigate to the newly created Season Zone Boundary layer.

    9. Once on the Season zone boundary level, the boundary polygons will list on the right side gray panel. Click the link on the right hand side gray panel.

   10. The boundary editor opens, edit season zone boundary as any boundary would be. For more help on boundary editing, see Editing Boundaries and Boundary History Tool

 11. When season boundary is in area desired, click floating save icon.

Map Remaining Boundary

If a season zone boundary is created for a field, the remaining field area can be turned into a second season zone with just a few clicks.  
  1. Right-click over season zone folder and select "Add Zone".
  2. The "Add Zone" window will include a "Map Remaining Boundary" option. Input desired name for new zone, and leave map remaining option selected, then click "Save". 

Mass Create Season Zones

For scenarios where one crop variety will be assigned to an entire field boundary area for a season, the new Bulk Season Creation tool will create all of those seasons and season zones at once. See help topic: Bulk Season Creation

Season Zone Crop and Variety

When Crop and Variety information is selected when creating a Season Zone, that information populates within the field Information display.
  1. In the Main tab, click field level Information icon.
  2. Crop information will display at the top of the Information screen.

Using Season Zone Boundaries in Fertility

Using Season Zones in Fertility tab involves all the same steps as creating a traditional Fertility request, with the only difference being that after the fields are selected in Fertility, they must be expanded and the season zone boundary checked as well. See image on right.
