Removal - Equation Based vs Yield Case Templates

The current/existing Yield Removal Case Tool allowed for users to define templates that will allow for variability in removal application, depending on selected nutrient thresholds. This tool is extremely handy in situations where users would like to apply measured or yield potential removed nutrient values only in areas of the field at or below certain test values. However, limitations around templates requirements, shared templates and limited visibility of the internal make-up of the templates when selecting and using within Fertility often presented challenges with this feature.

To better service the needs of the users, expanded functionality now exists to empower the existing soil fertility equations to allow for actual measured Yield or the available Yield Potential layers to be a direct influence on the removal portion of the equation.

This new feature is handled via a backend flag that can be assigned to the correct corresponding equation variable (Name) that is the direct influence towards a crop yield goal or assumed potential. Once set (requires Customer Support Request/Assistance) the formula can then be used as a direct guide for the variable crop removal function and adjust the supplied nutrient removal rate based on the logic defined within the selected equation.

This becomes a much more direct and absolute option that also provides greater flexibility beyond the semi-static Yield Case Removal templates that were defined and applied per grower or location.

Working with your Updated Equations in Soil Fertility

Once any needed equation sets have been updated by the Client Services/Support team, users can then navigate to the Soil Fertility portion of the module. Select the equation set to be used and then identify the Crop and Elements to be applied for. At this time, under the newly named "Yield Functions" section of the setup, select the option for "Equation Input Override".

The system will then display an "Equation Input Override" modal. Within this pop-up, option for the user to either select an actual Yield Layer or a Yield Potential Layer will be presented.

Select the "Submit" button to finalize the required selection. The fertility module display within the "Yield Functions" pane will then update to display any/all of the selected Yield layers. These will be the drivers for the output values passed directly then into the equation for the purposes of the nutrient loss/removal portions.

Lastly, finalize all remaining inputs on the Fertility Rx setup and then select "Submit Rx". The resulting output map will now have its rate output values influenced directly by the selected Yield layers. These modified rates should show a direct difference that correlates to the higher or lower yielding areas in comparison to the generic "Default" flat rate yield value that otherwise would of been passed into the equation.
