Profile Tree and Profile Management

Profile Tree Function

The FieldAlytics profile tree (aka "Grower Tree) is a hierarchical data storage system not unlike the structure in which data is stored on a personal computer. The profile tree is managed exclusively in the main tab. There are different actions available on different levels of the profile tree.

  • VAR (Value Added Resource)
  • BU (Business Unit)
  • Locations
  • Growers
  • Farms
  • Fields
  • Individual Field Data sets such as Boundaries and Field Data folders for Field Samples, Yield , As-applied, As-planted, Seasons, Management Zones and more.
Profile Tree FAQ

Why do I not see VAR, BU, Location, ect folders?

First, ensure you are viewing the profile tree in the Main tab. If you are still not seeing some of the higher level folders, it is likely that your user account has not been set up with access to those folders.

I do not have access to the higher level profile folders, do I need them?

Likely not. It is true that certain actions in FieldAlytics are performed exclusively on certain profile levels, but those actions are likely managed for you by your local system administrative user.

Profile Management

Adding new profiles, can be accomplished by right clicking over the parent profile that you wish to create a new child profile under. Renaming and Deleting profiles can be done by right-clicking over the specific profile to be renamed or deleted.

  • For example, if a new Farm is needed; Right-click over the Grower profile folder that will contain the new Farm.
  • From the menu that appears, select "Add Farm" . The system will prompt naming of the new farm(s)
  • Renaming the Grower, and deleting the Grower can also be accomplished from this menu.
  • The process is the same regardless of which profile level you wish to create, rename, or delete.
Profile Management FAQ

I am right clicking over a profile but I don't see the option to add a new profile. Why is that?

First check to ensure you are in the Main tab, then try again to add the profile. Check with your account administrator and ensure your account has profile creation permission. For clients with 3rd party integrations with FieldAlytics, profile modification is sometimes disabled on the FieldAlytics side. Contact us at fdssupport@efcsystems.com for more information.
